About
Maria’s acrylic paintings have a thought provoking quality and simple beauty. The paintings routinely consist of lines and bright colors that kindle the soul. They have a distinct unique feel to them. If you love abstractness, colors and sophistication you will be pleased.
The daughter of a missionary she often traveled and found stability in painting and drawing. She claims Arizona as her home but currently grows wherever planted by the U.S. military. Both she and her husband serve in the United States Army.
Maria’s art debuted at the Green Light Gallery in downtown Fayetteville, NC and she has displayed and sold art at the Art Nutz Gallery in downtown Southern Pines, NC. Her artwork has also appeared in the Fayetteville Observer and has helped raise monetary funds for numerous charities. Most recently, she won 3rd place in a Cumberland County art competition at Cape Fear Art Studios for the portrait Beautiful Innocence. Currently, her work is on display at Miller-Motte College in Raleigh, NC.
She is self-taught because of the reluctance to be influenced by teachers and enjoys the therapy that comes from creating art. Her greatest influences are her friends and the raw emotion she experiences while painting. She hopes you find peace and relaxation when studying her paintings and photographs.
“It is possible to experience a painting in such a way that you go beyond what you see, in order to find out what you might feel.” -Harley Hahn
